Dive Saint Helena operates a PADI dive training facility where we run dive training courses for beginners to experienced students who would like to gain their next qualification. All of our courses and certifications are managed by our MSDT (Master Scuba Diver Trainer), Craig Yon.
St Helena is a great location for all types of dive training and certification because of its sheltered open water areas and easy access that could help you prepare for the next step in your dive career or your next qualification on the PADI certification ladder. Your first open-water experience in one of the world’s safest bays is only meters away from the training facility. This is where one can put into practice everything you have learnt in the classroom and you can guarantee to gain as much experience in a natural environment where you can also enjoy the great untouched underwater wonders is St Helena.

The PADI Open Water Dive course has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle. If you want to learn how to dive and discover new adventures, or simply want to see the world beneath the waves, this is where it starts.
Dive Saint Helena offers the diver the ultimate diving experience with this course, using the outdoor swimming pool adjacent to the wharf to develop your diving skills and then carrying out the Open Water dives in and around the sheltered Jamestown Bay. Including the chance to explore the spectacular wreck of the Papanui on one of your qualifying dives.
What will you learn?
The theory section of the course teaches you the principles of scuba diving. Dive Saint Helena also offers you the opportunity to complete your Open Water theory section through the online PADI e-Learning programme – potentially before you come to St Helena. Contact us for more details.
The course fees cover all PADI classroom materials, including the Open Water Manual & Recreational Dive Planner (RDP), logbook, PADI Certification and all the scuba equipment you need for the pool and open water dives.
The PADI Open Water course gives you an international certification that will allow you to dive up to 18m deep with other certified divers around the world – your future holidays will never be the same again!
PADI Scuba review
Have you been out of the water for a while? We offer a refresher in the pool with one of our Dive Masters or Instructor where we will assess and practice your diving skills, this review will help you to regain your confidence before entering the open water. This course Includes one theory lesson and a pool session with a PADI Professional.
PADI Junior Scuba Diver
Age 10 and up. Just complete the other half of the PADI Open Water course and bingo! You’ve gone from a scuba diver to a full Open Water diver who can dive independently up to 18m with another qualified diver. Includes 2 theory & pool sessions, exam, 2 open water dives, certification, all equipment provided.
PADI open water Diver.
Age 10 (junior open water) and up. Until you do it yourself, you can’t really understand what it’s like. This is a full entry certification that allows you to dive internationally. Your holidays will never be the same! Completion of this course allows you to dive to 18m (12m for juniors) with another certified diver. Includes 5 theory & 5 pool sessions, an exam, and 4 open water dives with a PADI instructor. PADI Open Water Manual & RDP, logbook, PADI Certification, all equipment provided.
PADI. DISCOVER SCUBA
Discover scuba is offered from the minimum age of 10 and upwards. You can take this course and see what the hype’s about! Your PADI Instructor will introduce you to some basic theory and skills before taking you for your first sea dive. This course Includes one theory & pool session, and one supervised open water dive with a PADI Instructor.
PADI Adventure Dive.
Age 10 (Junior adventure diver) and up (depending on which Adventure Dive). If you want a taste of the Advanced Open Water course, or you don’t have time to do the whole course, try an Adventure Dive. The course consists of 1 knowledge review and 1 open water dive, under instructor supervision. Includes: PADI Advanced Open Water Manual (required), all equipment provided.
PADI Advanced open water Diver.
Age 12 (Junior advanced) and up. Gain new experiences and confidence with a supervised experience which allows you to dive up to depths up to 30m. There are two mandatory dives: Deep and Navigation. You can discuss with your instructor which three additional Adventure dives to choose from. This course Includes:5 adventure dives with a PADI Instructor, and all equipment provided. PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Manual (required) and PADI certification.
PADI SCUBA DIVER
From the age 15 and up. This qualification certifies you to dive to 12m under Instructor. Includes: 3 theory & 3 pool sessions, and 2 open water dives with a PADI Instructor. PADI Open Water Manual & RDP, Logbook, PADI certification, all equipment provided.
Emergency first response (Primary & Secondary care)
No age limits. Learn to give CPR and First Aid to someone in need! EFR is a one-day course which teaches you the fundamentals in coping with an emergency situation. A valid EFR certificate is mandatory to begin the PADI Rescue Course. Includes: The course includes EFR Manual and Quick Reference Card (required).
PADI - Rescue Diver
Age 12 (Junior rescue diver) and up. Some serious fun! This course is designed to expand your knowledge and experience beyond a purely recreational level. Although great fun, the course is quite serious in nature and context, enabling divers to effectively perform rescues and assists, manage emergency situations and give proper first aid. A valid CPR/ First Aid certificate is mandatory to begin the PADI Rescue Course. Includes: All theory and pool sessions, 2 open water training dives with a PADI Instructor PADI Rescue. Diver Manual (Required), all equipment provided and PADI certification.
PADI Professional Dive course - Dive Master
This is the first level in diving leadership. It is designed to provide you with the necessary skills to organize conduct and supervise recreational diving activities and act as an instructor’s assistant. You will develop your dive theory and get hands-on experience with student divers. Includes: course materials, training dives, pool sessions and full equipment is provided. Excludes: PADI eRPDml, PADI Fees (Paid directly to PADI UK)
